Jen Lemen first crossed the threshold into her hopeful world as a girl sitting on the kitchen counter, telling stories while her mother listened with a wide open heart. This experience of having someone hold space so something tender could be shared set Jen on a lifelong adventure as a catcher of stories, a bearer of secrets and a keeper of the lies we tell ourselves when we fear all hope is lost. A writer by nature and entrepreneur by birth, Jen co-created Mondo Beyondo with Andrea Scher, an online class about dreaming big. In 2009, Jen won the Name Your Dream Assignment with documentary photographer Stephanie Roberts and was granted $50,000 to travel the world uncovering stories of hope in unlikely places from remarkable people. These two experiences formed the foundation of Hopeful World, as Jen became convinced that world wisdom could finance economic development in places like Rwanda and Nepal, where modern history highlighted a kind of patience and courage often unexplored in more untested settings.
Jen currently lives in a big yellow house with her two kids, Madeleine and Carter, her good friends Rachael and Brian and a snake named Leo. She enjoys mentoring, napping and crafting unconventional solutions for impossible situations.
